Back to home ground

June 30th

Lovely nice day but very blowy.
Didn't see the Great Crested Grebes, but again lots of Canadian Geese about, Heron was on one of the fishing pegs.
First couple are from the garden, rest are from the cornfield next to Pirates Wood.

Amazed at how much everything has grown since I have been away, the Himalayan Balsam is a bit of a worry as it seems to be taking control.

Few from Wales

Saturday June 29th

Sorry I've been quiet but have been enjoying a couple of weeks in Pembrokeshire, few photos here but will add more when I have recovered from the heat, hoping to get a walkabout around Spennells in tomorrow morning, so may manage a post tomorrow or Monday.
Did have a quick walk around Captain's, saw many Canadian Geese but no sign of the Great Crested Grebes.

insect walkabouts

Friday June 14th
Awful start to the day again, brightened up a bit after lunch so I ventured out, big mistake as I got soaked, got couple of shots of hoverflies, but not the day I was hoping for.
Must have been about 20 Canadian Geese on Captain's when I got there, also a couple of Jays were having a sortie with a crow.

Thursday June 13th

Bit of a washout again!

Wednesday June 12th

Dull and damp start, rain stopped enough to get out for a walkabout, but not a lot about.
Female GC Grebe still sitting on the nest, otherwise very very quiet on Captain's Pool.

Some insect shots but light just awful, it's the main fault with a bridge camera, it does not do very well in bad light.

Tuesday June 11th

Total washout, rained solid all day so sadly I never ventured out.

Monday June 10th
Reasonable start to the day, pretty quiet around and about, a few insects started to appear as it warmed up a little, photos below.
Captain's very quiet as were the three pools, red-eyed damselfly was the highlight of my walkabout today.
The female GC Grebe has started sitting on the nest again so fingers crossed.
