Red Kites and a bit about me.

Hi, I am Dave Williams from Spennells which is in Kidderminster, all my photos have my Spennells Pensioner Logo on them. I am hoping to record my sightings around the Spennells, Stone, Shenstone and Summerfield area, although at times I will visit other areas.
I walk around the fields at Spennells most days of the week and from January 1st I hope to make a post from each day I do my walkabout.
For now though I will post a few pics from what I have done so far, I still consider myself a beginner, I bought myself a bridge camera (Canon sx50) in 2015 and still use it, it covers a lot of what I do, I also have a Pentax K20D with a few lenses, but hardly use it now and will be looking at selling that soon, I have two cameras that have been converted to infrared and you will see photos from those cameras as well on this blog, the main camera I use now is a Canon 700D along with a Tamron 150-600mm lens, great for wildlife photography.
Okay lets get the show rolling with a few images from this year, firstly from the Red Kite feeding station at Llandeusant in the Brecon Beacons, this is what got me hooked with bird photography, although we don't get Red Kites in Kidderminster (apart from the odd one) I fully expect to see some moving into the area within my lifetime.

Was an early start with my buddy Brett Pearson, Llandeusant is only about 15 miles from Brecon, our first stop was only a few miles from Brecon, toilet stop and a visit to the breakfast van parked in the same layby, smelt great, so quickly parted with some cash and ordered 2 sausage sarnies, OMG they were awful, glad we took our own food as well.
As we were early we had a nose along the canal at Brecon, very nice round there and then made our way along the mountain road to Llandeusant, Kites flying high in the sky as we arrived at the car park, only one other car there, don't know what they were up to but after a minute or so a couple of smiley faces popped up from the back seat.
Went to get my flask out for a quick drink, blimey Brett had disappeared already with his camera, never saw him again till they opened the centre, that was a sight to behold, about two or three hundred red kites circling the field where they did the feeding.
A few photos from the day below. (05.10.2016)
First one is an infrared shot of the Brecon Canal.

Now a few kites, such beautiful birds.

And this one from just a few miles down the road, will be re-visiting for sure.
