Monday April 8th
Another dull day, again very quiet in the reserves, was walking up Ghost Lane and down came the rain so I hung around Captain's which turned out to be very interesting.
Four GC Grebes today, the two which had been courting were still there along with the lone one and then I saw another, the two latest additions seemed to be an item as they were swimming very close together, but the original two were not happy and did their best to see them off, diving flying biting, but when I left for home all four were still there and still making quite a lot of noise.
Poor photos due to the poor light but was very interesting just to be able to watch them.
Photos below plus some of the heron at the end.

Very dull for my walkabout this morning, didn't see much in the way of birds apart from a few active Treecreepers, did see a Muntjac deer and an old fox though.
Also found a new hole which I presume belongs to a Woodpecker, will be keeping my eye on this, I did spot the GSW leaving the tree one morning but haven't seen it since.
Did spot one nuthatch at the one nest hole, but haven't seen any activity on the other one for a week or so now.
