Sunday June 2nd
Dull and mizzly day, didn't do much of a walkabout, popped down the 3 pools and round Captain's, all very quiet.
Larvae of some sort in the garden this morning, there were quite a few but they didn't last long as the robin was hungry.
May pop out after tea if it brightens up so please check back in case.
Yes I popped out again, very windy but did see several hoverflies but no photos due to the wind.
Saturday June 1st
Did my usual walkabout this morning, again very quiet although I did manage to find a few hovers, also a few common blue butterflies about along with lots of speckled woods.
Did see what looked to be a different damselfly down by the 3 pools, very white, sadly no photo.
Still no sign of the GC Grebe chicks which is not good news.
Warm but cloudy day with the odd dash of sunshine.
After lunch I popped over to Trench Wood near Droitwich, saw lots of brimstone and speckled woods, lots of red and blue damselflies, few broad bodied dragonflies and a Mother Shipton Moth and that was about it for there, couple of hours with not much of a result.

Friday May 31st
Warm, sunny and very breezy which made it very difficult for insect shots.
Did have a few walkabouts but not many photos, still no sign of the grebe chicks.
Red Kite flew over Stanklyn Lane late morning.
Froghopper
Cinnabar moth
Miris striatus
No idea what has laid these eggs on an oak leaf.
Thursday 30th May
Dull start but lot warmer, not that much around the reserves, same around the pool but I did spot my first grass snake for a month or so.
Both GC Grebes were fishing today, I now fear for the two chicks as I haven't seen them for a few days and there were no sign of them today.
Grass snake in poor light
Great Crested Grebe
Tuesday May 28th
Pleasant day but a chilly breeze early on, an early walkabout saw quite a few mistle thrushes and a few Jays around, lots of bees and flies about, nothing different on the pool.
Lots of damselflies down by the Three pools and couple broad bodied chasers.
Had another walkabout late afternoon looking for insects but that was reasonably quiet even though it was quite bright, results below, went out again after tea but again very quite although the field next to Captain's saw several Common Blue butterflies, my intention at the moment is to spot hoverflies, but just lately they have been very quiet, hoping this will change very soon as I find them fascinating.
Hoverfly - male Myathropa florea
Hoverfly - female Syrphus sp
Weevil - Polydrusus sp

Some fuss a few days ago about the Spittlebug with the BBC asking people to send in details about these little bugs, these have been around for as long as I can remember, not the easiest of subjects to photograph due to their size and the fact that they won't stay still.
Bit of a dull and cool day for the bank holiday, not much about early on and I didn't stay out long.
