Cloudy day

Monday July 8th

Cloudy but still warm, walkabout in the morning revealed photos below.

After lunch it did brighten a lot more than forecast and went much warmer, so another walkabout, but considering how far I walked it was very quiet.

Sunday July 7th

Very warm day but sadly no chance of a walkabout today.

Saturday July 6th

Dull and cloudy but still warm enough to wander around in a t shirt.
Early walkabout round the fields, Captain's Pool and down the 3 pools area, lots of hovers about but just the usual ones, very worrying that there are only a few species about, hoping it will pick up.
Captain's was quiet but a Cormorant was fishing along with the GC Grebe, other GC Grebe is still sitting on the nest.
Quite a few butterflies about early on, mainly Meadow Browns and Ringlets but did see couple of Marbled Whites by Pirates Wood.
Have been checking the oak trees but no sign of the purple hairstreaks yet.
Counted 21 swallows flying low in the cornfield by Stanklyn Lane.
Grand-children this weekend so limited walks now until Monday.

Ringlet

Sphaerphoria sp

Syrphus sp

Hoverfly - Eupoedes sp

Sphaerphoris sp
