Lots of butterflies and hovers

Friday 05 July

Very hot and humid again, had a good look down by the 3 pools, lots of Meadow Brown butterflies about, also saw 2 common blues, a painted lady, red admiral and 2 marbled whites.
Few dragonflies on the pools with damselflies nearby.
Many hoverflies around mainly the Marmalades,
Around the lanes it was very quiet, common hovers and many flies and bumble bees.
Captain's Pool still very quiet.

Thursday 04 July

Lovely day again although it did cloud up later on.
Couple of Spennells walkabouts and also a walk around Habberley Valley, great to see a lot of people at the visitor centre, lots of marbled white butterflies about but other than that I didn't see much.
Spennells also had a few marbled white butterflies down on the dead man's allotment, lots of young birds down the front by the brook, also lots of damselflies and a few dragonflies.
The one GC Grebe is still sitting.
Hoverflies, well much quieter than I was hoping for.
I did spot the hoverfly hornet mimic and spent an hour or so this evening trying to see it, I spotted it another 4 times but it was too active to get a photo, will be trying again tomorrow.
Jays were very active in the reserve by Captains Pool.
First three shots from the 3 pools area.

Will ID when I get chance.

Possibly a four spotted chaser.
