Stonechats are more evident now

Okay, today is friday but I will start with my two small walkabouts on Wednesday, it was cold on wednesday, no surprise there!
I started by Captain's and that was very quiet so on to the Grey Lady's Cloisters, lots of small birds around think there were a couple of bullfinches but not certain, quite a few long tails, here's one hanging around on one leg.

Squirrel watching every move that I made.

I then walked up the carrot field and I am pretty sure I saw 3 or 4 corn buntings, but no photos, usual suspects great tits etc, I then popped down to the field where dead men walk, yes it was daylight, I have walked in here at dusk and trust me it gets very spooky, I shall have to dusk more often as it would be interesting if I could get some spooky shots, was told a few years ago by someone I met that he would not recommend walking in this field at anytime apart from daylight hours, something to do with the Grey Lady's Footmen, apparently she had them all beheaded one day in a fit of rage, phew I'm glad I never knew her.
Anyway I did see what I thought were 4 or 5 staonechats, but couldn't get anywhere near them to be certain.

And so on to today (Friday)..

Horrible first thing, got back from doing the shopping and weather was awful, but it brightened up for an hour or so, met up with Brett for a walkabout and it was a short lived one, we had sleet, snow and rain during this session, but we did see 3 herons, 3 cormorants, two swans and several ducks, oh and a couple of buzzards which were determined not to come close enough for decent photos.
Plus a couple of ravens, I used to think these were large crows but now I know better.

Love seeing the snowdrops, usually means that Spring isn't far away.

I went home for lunch and the sky cleared and out came the sun, so wrapped up again and this time just went down to Stonechat's Lane, wasn't walking too far this time, the stonechat's were very active as were the buzzards again, tried my best to get a chat in flight but too far away, to be honest I just enjoy watching them, they are so quick.

Great tits are always around no matter what the weather is like.

This little wren was too far away for a decent shot, but it's now my mission to get a decent shot of one.

Was nice to meet up again with Jason Kernohan who used to do a blog called the shenstone birder, I am trying to take in all he tells me but just hoping I can memorise some of the things he tells me.
If it hadn't been for Jason I don't think I would have known the stonechats were even in our area and now I'm seeing them every day.

Weather supposed to be awful tomorrow, but if we get a dry break I shall be back out there, I want a couple of dry and warm evenings as I want to spend more time in the field where the dead men walk, will keep you updated on this.
