insect walkabouts

Friday June 14th
Awful start to the day again, brightened up a bit after lunch so I ventured out, big mistake as I got soaked, got couple of shots of hoverflies, but not the day I was hoping for.
Must have been about 20 Canadian Geese on Captain's when I got there, also a couple of Jays were having a sortie with a crow.

Thursday June 13th

Bit of a washout again!

Wednesday June 12th

Dull and damp start, rain stopped enough to get out for a walkabout, but not a lot about.
Female GC Grebe still sitting on the nest, otherwise very very quiet on Captain's Pool.

Some insect shots but light just awful, it's the main fault with a bridge camera, it does not do very well in bad light.

Swallows were skimming over the corn field

Longhorn moth in the wet corn

Fly eating another fly

Peacock caterpillars are growing

Tuesday June 11th

Total washout, rained solid all day so sadly I never ventured out.

Monday June 10th
Reasonable start to the day, pretty quiet around and about, a few insects started to appear as it warmed up a little, photos below.
Captain's very quiet as were the three pools, red-eyed damselfly was the highlight of my walkabout today.
The female GC Grebe has started sitting on the nest again so fingers crossed.
